  Standardisation & Infrastructure...

Fixation of standards of ISM drugs is a great challenge for the scientific field, particularly for those drugs which are derived form plants. It is due to the variation of active principles present therein. This variation is quite natural due to ecological factors where the drugs are grown. Similarly standardization of compound formulations is also a tough job. Some times a compound formulation contains a large number of herbs and  it  is  very  difficult  to  analyse  each  and every herb quantitatively as well as qualitatively. The Drugs of Indian Systems of Medicines are covered under the purview of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. So far 326 single drugs of plant origin and 83 compound formulations of Ayurveda have been worked out by this laboratory. These 326 Pharmacopoeial Monographs on single drugs of plant origin have been incorporated in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India, Part-I, (Vol-I, II, III & IV). This Laboratory has been declared as S & T Institution.
