Plant Drugs of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India - Volume I

With a renewal of interest in herbal treatment, the Indian System of Medicine (Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani) has rapidly risen to global prominence. But in order to ensure the successful application of Ayurvedic drugs, it is necessary to incorporate quality control measures. Since a pharmacopoeia is a regulatory document and plays an important role in standardising the quality of drugs through identification and authentication of ingredients, the first volume of the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India serves an important purpose. Volume 1 contains monographs on 80 plant drugs, featuring ethno-botanical data (botanical and vernacular names) and notes on distribution; description; therapeutic uses; important formulation and regulatory status. The scientific identity of each plant is expected to help manufacturers, quality control personnel, physicians and researchers to a great extent - leading to production of quality medicine and improved confidence among buyers. The book also contains a glossary of Sanskrit/traditional Ayurvedic terms. This is also  one  of  those  rare  books  that  has  been  presented   in   a  pleasant

visual  format,  thanks  to  the wonderful photographs. In sum, this materia medica of Ayurveda is an excellent reference tool that all professionals must possess. Ayurveda is an excellent reference tool that all professionals must possess.
